As the name suggests, this breed was created from the Wyandotte, by a dedicated fancier circa 1950. The principal aim of the Wybar was to fulfil a niche not covered by the majority of breeds: that of the triple-purpose fowl. It is true that some breeds are excellent layers, table birds and do well in the show pen; however, the Wybar sadly did not succeed in every aspect. Created from laced Wyandottes, barred Rocks and Brussbars, the Wybar laid adequately but did not particularly impress. Nowadays, Wybars can be seen at a couple of shows on occasion, but are still very rare.
