In 1941, the team at Cambridge attempted to create a heavy autosexing table breed from Dorkings and Barred Rocks. Dorkings were well known at shows, but specimens had not been bred with utility values in mind for some time. By 1949, the decision was made to discontinue the breeding programme, as Dorbars were outperformed by Brussbars (table), Legbars (laying) and Cambars (dual purpose).
